Why do we need algorithms for search engine optimization:
Google algorithms are the methods that are used to evaluate the websites and their pages on the basis of search queries and give search ranking to these web pages. It means that search engine optimization, done by the digital marketing executives, mainly focuses to apply the guidelines of the different algorithms given by Google and optimize the websites accordingly. It has helped Google build its reputation to provide credible search results where the top ranking websites have quality content for the readers. It became very important to do so, because many websites, create a huge volume of back links and got top ranking, even if they had very thin content. It led Google to come up with different algorithms and their updates to counter it and help quality websites rank higher.
The journey of Google Algorithm:
It mainly started in the year 2011 when Google came up with the Panda Algorithm. Due to this algorithm, Google reduced the ranking of those websites or pages whose content was thin. It means that this algorithm demands search engine optimization to focus upon putting quality content on webpages to get top rankings. Afterward, Google came up with the Penguin algorithm that identified websites with the spammed links. It made SEO executives focus upon building quality backlinks that are related to the website content. It will help Google rank pages quickly, otherwise, the rank of the spamming websites will decrease quickly. Further, Google came up with Pirates algorithm (it focuses upon the duplicate and pirated content on the websites) , Hummingbird algorithm (it came in the year 2013 that highlights the value of content in natural or conversational manner), Pigeon algorithm (it focuses on the content that is locally specific) and Mobilegeddon ( it gives ranking to the websites that are mobile friendly and those websites who can open properly on mobile, will be given higher ranking). Among the many other algorithms. Further, there are different updates of these algorithms to help SEO executives to deliver search engine optimization to the websites and guide them for the best SEO results.
